OpenAI

OpenAI was founded in December 2015 in San Francisco as a nonprofit artificial intelligence research organization. Its founders included Sam Altman, Elon Musk, Greg Brockman, Ilya Sutskever, Wojciech Zaremba and John Schulman, and its backers pledged $1 billion. Sutskever had helped create AlexNet at the University of Toronto three years earlier. The name reflected an early commitment to openly sharing research with the wider AI community.
