The Amelia Earhart Barbie honors the aviator's groundbreaking achievements, heroism, and enduring contributions to women's advancement, which she believed would demonstrate that men and women could be equals in the workplace. Earhart became the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean in 1932, earning her the United States Distinguished Flying Cross. In 1937, she attempted to circumnavigate the globe but disappeared over the Pacific Ocean on July 2, 1937, while flying near Howland Island. Despite extensive search efforts, her fate remains one of the great mysteries of the 20th century.
