To celebrate Barbie's 40th anniversary, Mattel paired up with South African–British renowned jewelry company De Beers to outfit a doll dressed with a full-length sheer skirt, gold bikini top and matching tangerine wrap, and a belt made of 160 diamonds from the jewel company. The doll was never sold in retail stores, going straight to auction and selling for $85,000.
The doll is the second highest valued Barbie, behind the 2010 Stefano Canturi doll.
