The first Halloween Barbie doll debuted in the "Happy Halloween Barbie & Kelly Gift Set," released in 1997 as a Target exclusive. This marked the beginning of an annual tradition, with new Halloween-themed Barbie dolls launched each year by Mattel, along with other retailers such as Walmart and Target.
