Goodbye Yellow Brick Road is the seventh studio album by Elton John. It was produced by Gus Dudgeon and recorded at Château d'Hérouville in France and Trident Studios in London. Released in 1973, it sold over 30 million copies worldwide and won two Grammy Awards in 1974, including "Album of the Year" and "Best Male Pop Vocal Performance" for "Candle in the Wind." The cover art, designed by Hipgnosis, a British design company responsible for the artwork of many of Elton John's other albums, is meant to represent John's journey from his early days as a musician to his newfound fame, the yellow brick road as the path to success, and the castle as John's ultimate goal. The flying monkey represents the obstacles that John had to overcome on his journey.

In 2018, John announced the "Farewell Yellow Brick Road" tour, his final tour before retirement.
