The Costume Institute's 2020 exhibition, titled "About Time," explored the relationship between fashion and time over the last 150 years, from 1870 to the present. The exhibition used Henri Bergson's concept of 'duration' to examine how clothes create temporal associations that blend the past, present, and future. The exhibition was narrated by Virginia Woolf as a "ghost narrator." The exhibition was organized around the principle of 60 minutes of fashion and was displayed in two adjacent galleries designed as enormous clock faces.
