The 2012 Met Gala, themed "Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations," explored the creative dialogues between two Italian fashion designers from different eras: Elsa Schiaparelli and Miuccia Prada. The Met held the exhibition from May 10 to August 19, 2012. Elsa Schiaparelli, renowned for her work in the 1920s and 1930s, and Miuccia Prada, who rose to prominence in the 1980s and 1990s, were brought together in this exhibition. Inspired by Miguel Covarrubias’s 'Impossible Interviews' for Vanity Fair magazine in the 1930s, the Met's exhibition featured orchestrated dialogues between these fashion icons. The following Gala saw numerous guests donning Prada's creations and pieces from Miu Miu, a subsidiary of Prada's grandfather's design house, reflecting the enduring legacy and influence of these fashion houses.
