A Barbie adorned in an evening gown featuring Vincent van Gogh’s Starry Night (1889) is a product of the collaboration between Mattel and The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York. The doll is part of an exclusive collection of Mattel products inspired by renowned artists and artworks from the museum’s permanent collection made available for purchase at MoMA’s Design Stores in New York and Japan, as well as on the Design Store’s and Mattel Creations websites.

The collection features a diverse range of products, including: a Magic Eight Ball showcasing a detail from a circa 1968 abstraction by Alma Woodsey Thomas, two Hot Wheels replicas representing the Jaguar E-Type Roadster and the Citroën DS 23 Sedan from the museum’s design holdings; figurines of iconic artists Salvador Dalí and Claude Monet, crafted by Little People Collector; an Uno deck featuring six artworks from MoMA’s collection, including masterpieces by van Gogh, Monet, and Matisse.

In addition to the product launch, this partnership will enable Mattel to fund MoMA’s Samuel and Ronnie Heyman Family Art Lab, an interactive space for children and families on the museum’s first floor.
