Robert Best was promoted to Vice President at Mattel in 2022, after serving as Senior Design Director since 1995. Throughout his career, he has created a variety of Barbie dolls based on characters from films and TV shows, such as Audrey Hepburn, as well as other celebrities and musicians. Best has also collaborated with fashion designers to replicate their creations on a Barbie scale. He is known for creating the 2000 Barbie Fashion Model Collection, which inspired a 2010 book. Best's educational background in fashion design was obtained from Parsons The New School for Design in New York. He has worked for major fashion brands such as Donna Karan and Isaac Mizrahi, and most recently gained recognition among pop culture enthusiasts after appearing on the reality TV show "Project Runway" in 2006.
