This new addition was unveiled at Breakthrough T1D’s 2025 Children’s Congress, held in Washington, D.C.
The new Barbie is equipped with a continuous glucose monitor (CGM) on her arm, which tracks blood sugar levels, while she holds a smartphone displaying a corresponding app. Additionally, she has an insulin pump attached to her waist, effectively illustrating the daily realities faced by individuals living with Type 1 diabetes.
Alongside the launch of Type 1 Diabetes Barbie, Mattel is introducing a doll that honors Peloton fitness instructor Robin Arzón in the U.S. and model Lila Moss in the U.K., both of whom live with diabetes. This initiative underscores Mattel's commitment to inclusivity and representation in its product offerings.
