Elton John and his partner of 12 years, David Furnish, registered their civil partnership on December 21, 2005, under the new U.K. law that permits same-sex couples to form civil partnerships. The registration took place at Windsor Guildhall, as well as government services and municipal offices in London. Nine years later, in 2014, John and Furnish married in a ceremony at their Windsor estate in Berkshire, with sons Zachary and Elijah as the ring bearers. The couple exchanged vows in the presence of friends, and a dinner reception followed the ceremony with a guest list that included Ed Sheeran, David and Victoria Beckham, and Ozzy Osbourne, among other celebrities.

Elton was previously engaged to Linda Woodrow for six months and married to Renate Blauel for four years.
