Elton John was born Reginald Kenneth Dwight on March 25, 1947, in Pinner, Middlesex, to Sheila Farebrother. When Elton was six, his mother married his father, Stanley Dwight. However, the couple divorced when Elton was 14. Sheila later married a local painter, Fred Farebrother, who became Elton's stepfather. Elton revealed that he had a complicated relationship with his mother. Despite being musically talented and supportive of his career, they had a falling out in 2008 after Sheila reportedly made disparaging remarks about Elton's husband, David Furnish. They didn't speak for over seven years but eventually reconciled before she died in 2017. Elton dedicated his album 'Diamonds' to her memory.
