Friend's Tribute

On July 23, Elton John dedicated his Glastonbury performance of “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me” to George Michael, who died in 2016, with a touching tribute.

Michael and John first performed the single from John's Caribou album at Live Aid in 1985. Then, in March 1991, Michael brought out John as a surprise guest for a duet at Wembley Arena, and this version was released as a single later that year, becoming a No. 1 hit in the U.K. and earning a Grammy nomination for "Best Pop Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal."
