Alan Turing's paper "Computer Machinery and Intelligence," published in 1950, is considered to be a pioneering work in the field of artificial intelligence (AI). The paper explores the possibility of creating machines capable of exhibiting intelligent behavior. Turing argues that such machines are not only possible, but they could eventually surpass human intelligence. It is one of the earliest papers to explicitly discuss the possibility of creating thinking machines. It also introduces the concept of the Universal Turing Machine, a hypothetical machine capable of performing any computation that any other machine can. It proposes the Turing Test, which is a method for determining whether a machine can exhibit intelligent behavior. In 2014, chatbot Eugene Goostman passed the test.
