Launched in August 1990 with the passage of the Ryan White Comprehensive AIDS Resources Emergency (CARE) Act, the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program (RWHAP) aims to establish a comprehensive system of care for individuals living with HIV who are uninsured or underinsured. The program facilitates access to life-saving treatments and support services, primarily focusing on improving access to quality medical care and treatment for people with HIV. Additionally, it seeks to reduce disease transmission by promoting adherence to antiretroviral therapy (ART).
