Voyager I

Voyager I is a space probe launched by NASA on September 5, 1977, with the ambitious mission to explore the outer planets of our system and, later, deep space. It was originally sent to study Jupiter and Saturn, sending back invaluable images and data about their atmospheres, moons, and rings that expanded our knowledge of the farther solar system. After completing its primary planetary expedition, the spacecraft continued its journey beyond the known worlds. In 2012, it made a lasting impact as the first vehicle to enter galactic space, crossing the "heliopause," the boundary where the solar wind from the Sun slows down and meets the interstellar medium.

On board is the Golden Record, a unique time capsule containing a selection of sounds and images from Earth, intended to represent humanity in case it encounters any intelligent extraterrestrial civilizations in the future.
